Charley Harper’s Cardinal Available in Four Classic FiestaWare

I am a big fan of Charley Harper’s art from The Golden Book of Biology when I was a youth. The much sought-after book sells for over $500.00 on Amazon.  The Cincinnati-based unique minimalist artist is best known for his highly stylized wildlife prints, posters, and book illustrations. Now you can add tableware to his resume. The Fiesta Tableware Company has a line of Harper’s cardinal bird series in both chinaware and glasses. This is a great set for any kitchen even if you do not know Charley’s Harper’s work.

Hell-Bent for Cinco de Mayo

I happened to go to Texas and noticed how big Cinco de Mayo is there. May 5th commemorates the date of the Mexican army’s victory over France at the Battle of Puebla in 1862. Today it is more festive where friends get together and drink. In Texas non-Mexicans celebrate the event, so why not add a little zing with Filipino bites and drinks. Publisher Tuttle is sharing a unique drink that mixes Mexican Michelada with Filipino beer. Miguel in Hell is a match made in hell. Pulutan: Filipino Bar Bites, Appetizers and Street Eats has some great finger foods to celebrate Cinco de Mayo.

Powerade Sports Freezer Bars

What a great idea, Coca-Cola and Jet Sert are making POWERADE Freezer Bars. Summer just got a little better. What a better way to decompress and chillax. They are naturally flavored with other flavors? I don’t know what that means, I will take their word for it. You can get both Mountain Berry Blast and Fruit Punch flavors. Yummy!

It’s a Gas: Borborygmus

Yes, it’s embarrassing when your stomach starts to rumble. What is the technical term for when your stomach starts to act up and seems to want to strike up a conversation with the outside world? The answer would be, Borborygmus, which is pronounced [bor·br·ig·muhs].

What is Tyromancy?

Tyromancy is the practice of predicting the future with cheese. Derived from the Greek (turos) (cheese) and manteia (divination), Tyromancy or Tiromancy is the art of divining the past, present and the future by interpreting omens found in cheese.
