              a quiet place 1

The horror of loud popcorn munching in A Quiet Place

John Krasinski’s film, A Quiet Place, has about 90 lines of dialogue in the whole movie. As the movie title suggests, there is a lot of silence in the whole movie. Moviegoers are complaining that during the movie, popcorn munching has become a big distraction. Please do not bring popcorn to A Quiet Place. Here are some silent food alternatives; Gummy sweets, soft cookies, Cadbury Fudge bars, cupcakes, sushi and soft pretzels. If you are going to slurp that drink to the bottom, you better reconsider or feel the wrath of people around you. Theatre owners are horrified of the notion that people might not buy food at the concessions. Eaters beware!

                  turtle soup 1

What ever happened to turtle soup?

We do not eat turtles. Turtles eat pizza. There was a time in the U.S. where turtle soup was a popular dish. In early black and white movies, it was common to see turtle soup on a menu. The waning of the dish grew because of our affinity for the turtle being a cute creature. From Pogo’s bard of the swamp “Churchy” to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, we were conditioned to not eat turtles but to make them our pets. The peak of turtle soup came when an overpopulation of people rushed to the San Fransico area during the Gold Rush. Food was very expensive.
In 1971, The Endangered Species Act was passed and killing sea turtles in United States waters was prohibited. Granday’s and other turtle canneries went out of business.

                    cricket food 1

                    Cricket Chips

There is nothing wrong with eating bugs. Many countries throughout the world love eating bugs. North America has an issue with eating bugs. We have no problem squashing the crap out of them. As much as we hate them, we do not want to eat them. Chirps chips hope to dissuade you from those silly notations. Just think of Dorito chips ground up with cricket flour. You can pick from three different flavors: cheddar, bbq and sea salt chips. Just stop thinking of Jiminy Cricket singing “When You Wish Upon A Star” and take a bite out of that little bugger. Yummy!
Once you try Chirps, you will bug your friends to snack on them too.
