Burger King Japan has unveiled an exciting addition to its menu: the Kyoto Whopper, a unique twist on the classic Whopper that features a special rice patty. This innovative burger pairs a traditional beef patty with a flavorful rice patty, crafted in collaboration with Hachidaime Gihey, a historic rice supplier based in Kyoto since 1787. The rice patty blends white and brown rice, delivering a hearty and distinctive texture that sets this Whopper apart.
A specially formulated Japanese-style ginger sauce enhances the flavors of the Kyoto Whopper. Made with dashi soy sauce, this tangy and savory sauce is infused with four traditional Japanese spices: roasted chili pepper, Japanese pepper, ginger, and dried citrus peel, offering a taste profile that is both bold and authentic.
Rounding out the Kyoto Whopper are fresh toppings of lettuce, tomato, onion, and creamy mayo, all served on a classic sesame seed bun. This culinary creation marries Burger King’s iconic style with the rich food heritage of Japan, making it a must-try for adventurous food lovers and fans of fusion cuisine.
The Burger King Whopper was introduced in 1957 by Burger King co-founder James McLamore. It was designed to offer a larger burger to stand out from competitors—priced at only 37 cents!
