Hidden Valley Ranch originally got its name from an actual ranch in California. After Steve Henson developed his now-famous ranch dressing recipe, he and his wife moved to a ranch near Santa Barbara and named it Hidden Valley Ranch. The creamy dressing became a hit with visitors who dined at the ranch’s restaurant. As word spread about the unique flavor, guests began requesting to take the dressing home. Henson started selling the dry mix to guests, allowing them to recreate the beloved dressing themselves, which eventually led to the creation of the Hidden Valley Ranch brand.
Over time, Steve Henson had been refining his signature salad dressing—a tangy combination of buttermilk, savory herbs, and spices. It quickly became a favorite among his ranch visitors, who couldn’t get enough of it, leading to the creation of Hidden Valley Ranch dressing.
The Big Dip Cup could lead to plenty of double dipping! The concept of double dipping gained popularity in the 1990s thanks to the US TV show Seinfeld. In one episode, a character is called out with the line, “Did you just double dip that chip?” after being caught dipping the same chip twice. The accuser, Timmy, goes on to say, “That’s like putting your whole mouth right in the dip.”
