Jerry Seinfeld is making a movie about his favorite snack, Pop-Tarts, for Netflix. The movie will be called Unfrosted. I hope the movie does not get a frosty reception. The movie is inspired by one of Seinfeld’s bits in his 2020 Netflix special “23 Hours to Kill.”
“Stuck at home watching endless sad faces on TV I thought this would be a good time to make something based on pure silliness,” Seinfeld said about developing the project during the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown. “So we took my Pop-Tart stand-up bit from my last Netflix special and exploded it into a giant, crazy comedy movie.”
Pop–Tarts is a brand of toaster pastries that the Kellogg Company introduced in 1964. Pop–Tarts have a sugary filling sealed inside two layers of thin, rectangular pastry crust. They were originally called “Country Squares.” They were inspired by Andy Warhol’s Pop Art culture and rebranded them as Pop–Tarts.
