Salvador Dali is better known as a surrealist artist. The self-branding artist made a name for himself in later life. Most people do not realize one of his most famous pieces of art is a logo he designed for Spanish lollipop maker Chupa Chups in 1969. He stripped down the elements of simplicity to shapes and colors. Since 1978, Chupa Chups’ packaging has undergone only minor changes. Salvador Dali did not create a logo and did not add anything. Instead, he took the smart step of making shape and color as important as the brand name and idea. He improved an idea that no longer sucked.
Fun Fact: A scientific expedition to the Antarctic discovered a new species of sponges, they were named Chupa Chups as a nickname for a species of marine sponges.
