Huy Fong Foods Inc. the maker of the hot sauce Sriracha announced that it has suspended production of the Sriracha Hot Chili Sauce, Chili Garlic and Sambal Oelek because they ran out of chili (they use about 50,000 tons of chili every year). “Several spiraling events, including unexpected crop failure from the spring chili harvest,” said the company as reported by San Gabriel Valley Tribune.
“We are still endeavoring to resolve this issue that has been caused by several spiraling events, including unexpected crop failure from the spring chili harvest,” read the message from the company’s management. “We hope for a fruitful fall season and thank our customers for their patience and continued support during this difficult time.”
