Cannibal sandwiches are a longtime Milwaukee tradition. Bunzel’s Meat Market goes through over 1,000 pounds of raw beef and about 250 pounds of raw onions, exclusively for cannibal sandwiches.
Despite its history, cannibal sandwiches’ popularity has plummeted. The dynamic of life changed. Fewer people lived on farms, health concerns were raised and processed, and convenience foods took over.
