The Pregnancy Whoppers were only available at select Burger King restaurants in Berlin for Mother’s Day.
“These cravings are as real as pregnant women’s desire for special food combinations, Klaus Schmäing, marketing director at Burger King Germany, said in a statement. “This brought us to the idea to turn the most popular pregnancy cravings into pregnancy Whopper sandwiches.”
Burger King’s survey of expectant mothers in Germany found that pregnancy cravings are not just a myth, with 58% of the respondents saying they are a familiar phenomenon and 76% saying that resistance to cravings is impossible. The survey also indicated that cravings are most likely to occur in the second trimester and in the evening, but 7% of women said their cravings persisted even after giving birth.
