KD Ramen Brings Kraft Dinner’s Iconic Cheesy Flavor to Canada

Certain foods feel woven into the Canadian experience, and Kraft Dinner is right at the top of that list. Whether you were a student stretching a budget, a parent looking for a quick meal, or simply someone craving a bowl of comfort after a long day, KD has been there for generations. Now, the blue-box legend is taking an unexpected detour down a different noodle aisle.

Say hello to KD Ramen.

In a move that feels both surprising and strangely inevitable, Kraft Dinner is bringing its signature cheesy flavour to the world of instant ramen. Inspired by the internet’s ongoing obsession with cheesy ramen creations, KD is blending two comfort food heavyweights into one bowl. Before our American friends start plotting a cross-border shopping trip, there is a catch: KD Ramen is launching exclusively in Canada.

The new lineup comes in three varieties designed to satisfy different cravings. Cheesy Ramen combines a beef-based ramen flavour with a subtle kick of spice and the unmistakable cheesy taste that has made KD a household staple. Extra Cheesy skips the heat and doubles down on the creamy, familiar flavour Canadians have loved for decades. Meanwhile, Extra Spicy turns up the temperature, balancing ramen-style heat with the smoothness of KD cheese for a combination that sounds tailor-made for late-night snackers.

The timing makes perfect sense. Ramen continues to dominate social media feeds, while countless food creators have been mixing cheese into their noodles for years. Kraft Dinner has essentially looked at the trend and said, “Why not make it official?”

Made with the same real Canadian cheddar cheese used in traditional KD, the new ramen line is set to hit grocery stores, convenience shops, and big-box retailers across Canada this July.

As someone who grew up in the era when a box of KD was practically a food group, I never imagined seeing it transformed into ramen. Then again, Canadians have been experimenting with their noodles for years. Kraft Dinner just beat us all to the punch and put it in a package.

If nothing else, it proves that even after all these years, Canada’s favourite comfort food still has a few surprises left in the pantry.
