Mass-a-peel: Banana milk?

Make room for banana milk, the new kid on the block. I do not know how one goes about milking a banana. However, the alt-milk industry is milking dairy farmers as an alternative for lactose-intolerant consumers. The grocery milk section is getting crowded with the likes of soy milk, nut milk, pea milk, and oat milk.

“It’s the latest non-dairy milk trend that’s sweeping the nation. What you’ve heard is true: it’s delicious plant milk, made with real, organic ingredients that you can feel good about.”

Mooala, whose line of banana milk includes original, strawberry, and chocolate flavors, posted nearly 900% year-over-year sales growth, the fastest among newcomers to the alt-milk category. It’s now sold in 2,000 stores including Whole Foods, Safeway, Kroger, Wegmans, and Costco.”

Fun Fact: A cow produces around 200,000 glasses of milk in her lifetime.
