International Coffee Day is just around the corner. I love my coffee, maybe a bit too much. I am getting pumped for International Coffee Day I am spoiling myself with some gourmet coffee. No instant coffee this week, it is lazy and quick. My tastebuds are getting pampered with some good java.
International Coffee Day is celebrated on September 29. However, the official date of the holiday is in fact October 1. It was instituted by the International Coffee Organization in 2014 and has been celebrated yearly.
On International Coffee Day 2022, Members and partners of the International Coffee Organization come together to move the coffee sector from a linear to a circular economy: To celebrate all those working hard to make the three billion delicious coffee cups we enjoy every day around the world. To recognize that transforming waste in the coffee sector into new products and alternative energy options creates important income and job opportunities and reduces production costs.
The International Coffee Organization (ICO) was established in 1963 in London under the auspices of the UN. It administers the International Coffee Agreement between coffee-producing countries and consuming countries to keep coffee prices stable.
At a meeting that took place in March 2014, the ICO decided to launch International Coffee Day in order to emphasize the great economic importance of coffee, raise awareness of the hardships that coffee growers face, and promote fair trade coffee because of its contribution to sustainable development.
The inaugural International Coffee Day celebration was held in Milan as part of Expo 2015. The holiday has been celebrated every year since its inception. On the occasion of Coffee Day, businesses in ICO member countries offer discounts on coffee and special deals for their loyal customers or social media followers.
Anyone can join a celebration by creating their own events and activities dedicated to one of the most popular drinks in the world. International Coffee Day is a great occasion to learn more about coffee and find a new appreciation for the beverage.

According to legend, 9th-century goat herders discovered how caffeine affected their goats, who looked like they were “dancing” (probably high on caffeine) after eating the Coffea plant’s fruit. After that discovery, the cup of coffee as we know it was born when a local monk made a drink with the product and discovered that it kept him awake all night.
