After the success of the Double Down, where fried chicken served as the bun, KFC is pushing the boundaries further with the introduction of the new Waffle Double in Australia. This innovative sandwich features a unique twist by using a waffle as the centerpiece. The Waffle Double is a limited-time offering that consists of two Original Crispy chicken filets sandwiched with a Belgian waffle, complemented by crispy bacon and smoky maple mayo. The Original Crispy filet is known for its double-breaded, extra-crispy texture.
While the Waffle Double is new to Australia, KFC previously launched a similar sandwich, the Waffle Double Down, in Canada in 2018. This concept was later brought to Singapore and New Zealand in 2020.
Meanwhile, in the United States, KFC introduced a Chicken and Waffles Sandwich, which featured two waffles encasing a crispy chicken filet but has yet to offer a variation with the chicken filets as the outer layers and the waffle in the middle.
