Why do food cans have ridges on them?

    Corrugation, the term used to describe the ridges found on food cans, plays a multifaceted role in enhancing the functionality and safety of these containers. Without corrugation, the can would be more susceptible to cracking under thermal stress.

      It was 150 years ago that Heinz came to be. They are celebrating the anniversary by redesigning three of their iconic canned products. Heinz cans of Beanz, Cream of Tomato and Freshly Made Spaghetti are each individually adorned with backstory images by Jones Knowles Ritchie.
