These delightful faux fish are made from pancake batter and sandwiched together with sweetened azuki beans or custard. The Japanese treat is known as Taiyaki, it is just a waffle in the shape of a fish with custom filling.
There is no waffling in the restaurant business. KFC introduced their Waffle Double Down sandwich last week. Red Lobster has a Cheddar Bay Biscuit waffle topped with a buttermilk fried lobster tail dish.
I am speechless. KFC Canada is introducing the Double-Down sandwich with a golden Belgian waffle nestled between two pieces of fried chicken at participating restaurants. Nothing screams Canada more by adding maple aioli sauce to this monstrosity. I think it is a good time to do some cross-border shopping.
